God Continues to Blow My Mind

God is amazing! I know that I have only shared bits and pieces of Daniel's story on here, but in the last 5 months God has worked some amazing things in my baby's life.

Daniel has been getting physical therapy for 16 months now. Occupational therapy for one year and speech therapy for 5 months. He had several delays that were very concerning. It's a long story that I won't write all out today because its very long and I want to type a detailed account, so everyone sees the miracles along the way.

But today, I want to share the miracle that happened on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Daniel had missed speech therapy for three weeks due to the illnesses that kept plaguing our home. When she arrived he was happy to see her. This was a little surprising because he hadn't seen her and I figured he wouldn't want to play with her. Everyone sat down and I just kept praying that he would talk for her. He talks all the time, but sometimes for other people he doesn't know well or see frequently he clams up. He'll sign but not speak. I just kept silently praying. Well she brought a new toy that he had never seen before and he just talked and talked and repeated big words. Showed off his sentence speaking skills, his singing skills and played and laughed and interacted the whole time. My heart was bursting! She looked up at me and said, "he doesn't need me". YES!! That's what this mama wanted to hear!!!! As they were playing she was evaluating him. Here's the run down, I'm laying it out slow so that the miracle is obvious (not that I think you won't get it, but it's so much better with details):

~~August 2009: Speech evaluation shows language delays only. Cognitively he was fine. He signed four words and had no real (spoken frequently and you know what they are) words. Speech therapy to begin immediately.
~~January 2010: Speech evaluation shows not only is he age appropriate, in some things he tested at a three year old level. A vocabulary of over 100 words, speaking in full sentences. Discharged from speech therapy.

Speech therapist was good, but I think he missed more than he saw her because of illness. He went from nothing to being ahead in five short months. Now you can call it luck or give all the credit to speech therapist but as for me and our family we are GIVING ALL THE GLORY TO GOD. This is just one more miracle that is contained in the BIG miracle he gave us through Daniel.

Daniel not only does all those verbal things I mentioned, but he also counts to ten, by himself. I am not hallucinating. All I have to do is say one and he takes off! He also hums the tune to the ABC song. He sings O, How I Love Jesus, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and Old MacDonald.

This is not luck, dear friends. Daniel has had heavenly intervention!

Cheesy boy!! Another blurry pic! I am not happy with this camera, at least the subject is cute!
