Wow It's Almost Here

Every week Heart of the Matter has a meme. I haven't done it in a few weeks, but I really wanted to do this one, so here we go. Goals for 2009 is this weeks meme and I just can't believe it's that time again. You know the time where we sit down and decide all the things we want to do in the coming year. I quit calling them resolutions several years ago and went to calling them goals. I wonder if one goal could be to complete the goals?? I have so many this year, but I won't bore you with all of them.

Personal:
~~To have the mind of Christ everyday, all day.
~~To read the Bible all the way through.
~~To lose weight--and no I won't say how much. :)
~~To exercise daily (different muscle groups)
~~To teach my children the joy of helping others in the community.
~~Including Makiah our community work.
~~To be more organized in every area (house, homeschooling, church duties)
~~To cook healthier, from scratch meals
~~Eat the majority of our meals at home (we eat out too much)
~~To end the year with money in savings (novel concept huh?)
~~Peace and Patience are to be my words of the year!
~~To have Samuel completely potty trained!!!
~~To read a one book a month for my personal enjoyment
~~To make gifts and goodies for people throughout the year (birthday's, anniversaries, Christmas and for no reason at all)
~~To try at least one new recipe a week the whole year.
~~To crochet a little everyday (Mental health time) :)
~~To blog something everyday, even if it's just a picture.

Homeschooling:
~~Become more focused and have a better daily schedule
~~Research and possibly change curriculum
~~Add more art, music and physical exercise into our days (like they don't run and jump enough)
~~Start Makiah on piano lessons
~~Complete letter and number recognition with Samuel, maybe begin early reading skills
~~Read more to my kids (we already read a lot, but I want to do more)

I have a lot of things I want to see accomplished in my life and home in 2009. I am looking forward to the challenges, joys, and fresh starts of the new year. One goal was to read one book a month for my enjoyment, I'd rather it was one a week, but my long list of things I want to accomplish probably wouldn't allow for that.

I'll be blogging about my progress. Nothing like being accountable to the internet and the four people who read my blog.

What things do you want to accomplish in the coming year?

Potty Vingette #1

So it's Monday. . . the day of the To Do List Doom.

It is also our first day back in full swing potty training.

So, I'm going to try to post throughout the day about how our potty adventure is going. I know you all are excited about this.

So far this morning, he has been in underwear and he hasn't had any accidents, but he hasn't peed either. So hopefully he isn't holding it, which is what happened the last time.

I have tons of stuff to get caught up on today because of being down for five days with my back out. My back is better, not great, but better. You know I walk now instead of shuffle, so that's good.

I'm off to fold laundry. Be back later.

A Little of This and A Little of That No. 1

Good almost afternoon bloggity friends. I am scurrying around the house attempting to be productive and thought I'd come and post a little something.

In my scurrying this morning, I was putting up the digital camera and upon walking into the living room I happened upon a kodak moment: (pay no attention to the date on the pic, it's wrong again)

Declaring his super hero prowess and proclaiming the "swaurd of the spiwit" (In his pull-ups no less)

Making a hasty descent because mama has entered the room.

If you needed evidence, now you have it.

Today I am trying to get caught up on the house work that seems to have piled up, the housework fairies must be on vacation.

So far the living room is the only room that has felt my wrath thus far, but there are many more to come.

Shower = Death Trap

I have been meaning to write about our bathtub/shower since we moved in, but I just keep forgetting (yes, I have mentioned my lack of memory before). So I finally remembered and here we go.

We moved into this townhouse almost a month ago and the bathtub has been the thorn in my side ever since. It is old, it is metal and it is slippery, but it's even more slippery because instead of a nice just slightly rounded bottom, this tub is caving in and therefore has a V slope.

Standing in it is like an acrobatic trick that requires grace and balancing skills. Not only does it increase your athletic abilities, but because of its crazy slope the water pools really bad. Now I love a good foot soakin' as much as the next girl, but standing in a eight inches of water while showering is not quite what I had in mind.

Needless to say, that while getting a nice long (which is not often), hot shower is on the top of my "I love that" list, not in this shower. It is not enjoyable nor is it feasible due to the fact that your legs begin to cramp because the way you are standing.

So, I finally couldn't stand it anymore and I called the office and told them something had to be done. They came out and said they would have to talk to the manager and then the maintenance man came back with a bathtub repair man and he said he could fix it.

Now my tub is as close to normal as it is going to get, but currently my house smells like high powered glue and I think we are beginning to hallucinate. Of course in my case, most people wouldn't be able to tell if I was hallucinating or not because I always sound this way.

Long, hot showers here I come.

I actually wrote this post last week and didn't get around to editing it, so I saved it. Then I promptly forgot that I had saved it. I knew I remembered typing a post and that's why even I was surprised to see that I hadn't posted in a week! See what I mean about the hallucinating, you probably think I am surrounded by epoxy toxins all the time.

No, this is just my normal.
